Those who think they can change the world …

Posted by klondike on 09 Jan 2008 | Tagged as: Ottawa xCamps, TheCodeFactory

… are often the ones who do.

Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.  Steve Jobs

REFRESH OTTAWA KICKOFF

Posted by klondike on 04 Jan 2008 | Tagged as: Ottawa xCamps

Mark forwarded me this note and I wanted to share it with everyone.

At long last, we are holding the inaugural Refresh Ottawa event.

A great way to start the New Year — we’ll be kicking off with a free event downstairs at the Clock Tower on Bank next Thursday, January 10th, 2008 from 7-9pm.

At each event, we’ll have one or two presentations followed by networking/social time. On Thursday we’ll have Derek Featherstone present “Accessible mapping with Google Maps” and Jonathan Snook will present on JavaScript Frameworks. Each session will be about a half hour leaving plenty of time to chat and get to know each other.

The social hour will be sponsored by Web Directions North -

(http://north08.webdirections.org) one of the world’s top conferences for web geeks. (Full disclosure: Derek is part of the organizing team for Web Directions North and both he and Jonathan will be speaking at WDN in Vancouver later this month)

We’ve added the event to upcoming.org:

http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/398970/

Please RSVP there if you’re attending so we can plan for numbers - we need to let the Clock Tower know how many people to expect.

See you there!

Derek and Jonathan
